About me & my journey so far

9 years ago, I started a blog, mainly because it was one of my Erasmus program paperworks. By that time, I wrote this introduction for my blog :

I am 20 years old. I am a student. I am living alone.

My first 18 years were spent in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. From my 6 years old, I attended the classes named “les classes bilingues” within Vietnamese schools.

18 years-old, I arrived to Paris to do my higher education on the Communication in IUT Paris Descartes.

This year, always as a student of IUT Paris Descartes, I go to Groningen, a student city in the North of the Netherlands, to do my Erasmus year in Hanze University of Applied Sciences.

The first reason of this blog is…(to be honest :-D) because Erasmus wants me to do this. I have never succeed to write a diary and am not someone who is used to tell in public about her life. Moreover, I felt that I was supposed to do describe my life as a ‘la vie en rose’, and that frustrated me: “Yes,  I am studying abroad, in an Exchange program, among international students. Yes, I was in Paris – the City of Love, and then now in Groningen – the beautiful Student City of bike. I am very lucky, yes, I do know that. But, as someone says ‘no pain, no gain’, or ‘le revers de la médaille’, or ‘cái gì cũng có giá của nó’ (‘everything has its price’ in Vietnamese), nothing is that ‘pink’, my life either.”

Then, I realized that I could be free to say what I really think, to expose the dark, sad side of me and of my life. In addition, I can create my own blog (and not only in the common site of my IUT), talk about other issues and not only some strictly predefined topics. Moreover, I can consider this as my personal blog, for me, for my friends and family, and not simply a mandatory homework at school. Last but not least, I told myself that I had to practice my writing skills, improve my English, as well as my French.

So please, prepare yourself for some long emotional texts, as well as some very short ones, for the ‘happy girl’s diary’ as well as the ‘stories in a sad day with rain and tears’, for many English mistakes (as well as little bit less mistakes in French), etc.

and…

Welcome to my blog!

Today, I’m not a student anymore. I’m almost 30 with a ‘stable life’ and career in France, living with my husband and our little cat.

Many things have changed since but some haven’t: I still think I’m very lucky to have Vietnam, France and the Netherlands as my dear countries. I might have less worries about my future than 9 years ago, but still have some rainy days.

Recently, I’ve been wondering about starting a blog. After 5 years without revisiting my old blog, I almost forgot it. I was struggling with the topic and the theme for my new one though.

Then, I decided to take a look at my “Erasmus blog”: surprisingly, I like my old posts. Things appear cristal clear to me. Finally, I’m back to where I was : it’s people and the (inter)culture that interest me, and I don’t have to look for a writing style, I will keep the old one.

So here I am, 9 years later, reopening my old blog, to continue at the same direction.

Probably, I’m still that 20-year-old girl, with just a little bit more experiences.

So again,

Welcome to my blog !
