Goodbye, dear colleagues!

Last Friday, we said goodbye to two of our colleagues, as they change their job. To be honest, I’m a little bit sad.

It’s a part of life, of our professional life, and especially of consultant life. And it’s for a good reason, as everyone has to move on at some point.

But I still feel a little bit nostalgic and lost.

They are two adorable girls, very smart, competent and confident. Above all, they both have incredible energy, very enthusiastic, and one of the two have amazing laugh.

They animate our office life with their stories, their jokes. They have at more or less the same age at mine. So as some few women in the tech field, we are like allies.

I also think that one of the reason why they leaving affects me more than usual, it’s because it has been a while that we haven’t had any physical farewell. Indeed, during one year and a half working at home, we had many new co-workers who left, some of them even came and left during the quarantine time, without any meeting in person. But I was at home, I just saw them very little and I could easily switch back to my husband, my personal space to recomfort myself.

This time, the last two weeks before they leaving, I spent a lot of time with them, and we had farewell parties at work. I’ve been preparing myself to all the changes at the office. It’s hard though when you spend like 10 hours a day with your colleagues then to say goodbye.

Fortunately, now that I’m sharing my time 50/50 working at the office and from home, I can take some distance the days that I work at home.

There are two other colleagues who are leaving by the end of the year, another one will leave next month. New colleagues have arrived, others will come too.

Well, that’s part of life, I’m gonna get used to it. I’ll have to adapt myself to the crew.

My husband also left his job last Friday. It has been 5 years and a half that he worked at his company. He will look for a new job, a new adventure. I hope that he will find a great job soon.

Many changes have been going on. Adaptation is necessary.

What about you? Something new lately?
